Clan MacLaren Society of Germany

1. Name and Seat of the Society

The Society bears the name Clan MacLaren Society of Germany.
The seat of the Society is Haan, Germany.


2. Social System

The Clan MacLaren Society of Germany is a non-incorporated association.


3. Purpose of the Society

The Clan MacLaren Society of Germany follows ideal objectives only.

The purpose preserves the history and tradition of the Clan MacLaren and the promotion and fosterage of connections and kinship between Clan Members and friends of the Clan in Germany, and the search and integration of in Germany living Clan Members into the Society, so agreed with the Clan Chief.

The Clan MacLaren Society of Germany keeps friendly connections with other Clan Societys all over the world and provides support to its Members and all Clan MacLaren Members at their stopover or stay in Germany.

The Clan MacLaren Society of Germany stands loyal to its Clan Chief and promise him every possible help and sponsorship.

The first responsible language is German, second is English.

The Clan MacLaren Society of Germany has no commercial purposes.


4. Membership

The executive board of the Clan MacLaren Society of Germany will approve applications for new Membership. Condition at first is the Certification of Membership of the Scottish ClanMacLaren Society. Application for it could be managed by us.

Member can be everybody, without consideration of family and social background, religion or race, everyone
  • who bears the name MacLaren or modifications of it and its septs (see Appendix)
  • who is connected with the Clan MacLaren through kinship
  • who sympathises with the Clan MacLaren and is interested in the history and tradition of the Clan MacLaren
Honorary Members who shall pay no subscription but shall have the full rights and privileges of Annual Members.

The Membership could be cancelled by Members without any statements and observance of a time limit.

The executive board can suspend Members, who harms the reputation of the Clan with incorrect behaviour, after verbal or written hearing.


5. Membership Fee

The Membership free is 2,00 EUR pro person per month, 5,00 EUR per family and should be paid at once or twice a year.

The admission fee for new Members is 10,00 EUR at once.

An higher assessment of a Membership Fee needs consentaneous resolution of the chief and the executive board.


6. Funding of the Society

Funding of the Society will be the Membership fee, and donations of its Members or charitable donations from other parties or persons.

All money received by or on behalf of the Society shall be applied to further the Objects of the Society and for no other purpose.

The Honorary Treasurer shall keep proper accounts of the finances of the Society which shall be audited by the Executive Board each year.

A Charitable Status will be aspired.


7. Executive board

The Executive Board consists of a President (further on named as "Chief"), the chairman and the honorary treasurer.

The Chief executes his office for an indefinite time. He will resign from office through decision of the Clan Chief, retirement or death, only.

The chairman and the treasurer will be nominated by the Chief and will be approved by the Society Members. They could be dropped by Resolution of no confidence through the Chief and / or the Society Members.

The executive board is competent through the chief and the chairman or the treasurer.

The Executive Board shall have power to make from time to time such Rules as they may consider necessary to facilitate the working of this Articles for internal and external relationships. Here is foremost meant the "Charitable Status".

Honourable President is the appropriated acting Clan Chief. He has a power of veto against the resolutions of the executive board and the General Membership Meeting.


8. General Membership Meeting

A General Membership Meeting takes place if needed and in not determinated periods.

A General Membership Meeting could be called through the executive board, the Clan Chief or by application of a single Member.

An Application of a single Member needs an agreement of the executive board. The General Membership Meeting takes decisions with simple majority.


9. Liquidation of the Society

The liquidation of the Society could be proposed though unanimously decision of the executive board to the General Membership Meeting. The liquidation of the Society needs an agreement of 75% of all Members and the agreement of the Clan Chief.

All exististing values and assets will be transferred to the Scottish Clan MacLaren Society at least.


Appendix Membership

  • Persons bearing or connected with the name MacLaren or MacLauren in any of its Spellings:

    There are variations of the main patronymic LABHRUINN and are usually rendered as MacLaurin but also as Mac, Mc, or M' Laren, Lauren, Laurin, Laran, Leran, Claren, Cleran, Clarin, Lare, Laurie, etc.

    Derivations without Mac: Laurence, Laurie, Lawrence, Law, Lawrie, Lawson, Low, Lowrie, Lurie, etc.

  • Persons bearing or connected with any Sept of the Clan:

    Derived from the patronymic PATRICK (which applies equally to Clan Lamont, to be distinguished by knowledge of background history and origins of the family concerned): Paterson, Patterson, Peter, MacPatrick, MacPhate, MacPhater, MacFater, MacFeat, etc.

    Names derived from Clan RUARI (which applies equally to Clan Ranald, to be distinguished by knowledge of background history and origins of the family concerned): MacRory, MacRuari, MacGrory, etc.
Note: Descendants of persons bearing or connected with the names in one of these groups consult the Scottish Society Chairman, in the first place, about recognition.
